About this pack

Metal is not one material. Silver, brass, bronze, chrome, pewter, iron and gunmetal differ in colour, in how sharply they reflect, in how their edges wear and in what time does to them chemically, and a prop reads as cheap the moment it is textured with one generic shiny grey. Volume 22 answers that with thirty-two distinct metal surfaces for Substance Painter, written for prop, weapon and hard-surface artists who need a named alloy rather than a default.

What you get

  • 32 metal smart materials in SPSM format
  • Compatible with Substance Painter version 12 and above
  • JPG preview renders for every material in the pack
  • Layers, blend modes and parameters left open for editing

The range is spread across the metal family rather than clustered in one corner of it: polished silver, antique bronze, golden brass, weathered copper with a green patina, oxidised dark steel, scratched chrome, aged pewter, hammered iron, tarnished gold, dark gunmetal, blackened metal and verdigris copper, among the rest. Two axes are covered at once — which metal it is, and how far through its life it has got — so one set can dress an entire prop kit without every piece looking like it left the same workshop on the same afternoon.

Working with them is drag and drop first, then dialling. Dropped onto a mesh a material is finished as authored; opened up, it is an ordinary Substance Painter layer stack, so the polish level, the strength of the patina and the amount of edge wear are parameters rather than repaints. That difference is what separates a library you use once from one you keep going back to.

Preview renders ship for every material so you can choose by eye rather than by name. The presentation renders used on the product poster are not part of the download.

Every purchase includes free lifetime updates and a no-questions-asked 7 day money back guarantee.

About Smart Materials

Every set in this aisle is built the way I build materials for client work: layered, parametric and non-destructive. Nothing is baked flat, so you can open any material and change the base colour, the wear amount or the roughness breakup without starting over.

Each material ships alongside a rendered 4K PBR texture set — base colour, roughness, metallic, normal and height — so you can use it outside Substance Painter in Blender, Unreal, Unity or any renderer that speaks PBR.
